Ingredients:
- 3½ cups whole milk
- 2 (3.4 oz) packages Jello instant French vanilla pudding
- 1 package Oreo cookies, divided
- ½ cup butter, room temperature
- 8 oz cream cheese, room temperature
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 8 oz cool whip, thawed in the refrigerator
- Gummy worms (optional)
Instructions:
Crush the Oreos:
- Remove 8 Oreos from the package and cut them into small ¼-inch pieces. Set aside.
- Place the remaining Oreos in a food processor fitted with an “S” blade and process until they resemble coarse crumbs. Alternatively, crush the Oreos with a rolling pin. Set aside.
Make the pudding:
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the whole milk and instant French vanilla pudding. Set it aside in the refrigerator to solidify.
- In the bowl of a standing mixer or a large bowl with a hand-held mixer, cream together the butter and cream cheese until well combined and smooth (about 30-60 seconds).
- Add powdered sugar and beat until smooth.
- Once the pudding has set, add it to the butter/cream cheese mixture and beat on low speed until combined.
- Fold in the cool whip until the mixture is homogenous and uniform throughout.
Assemble:
- In a trifle dish or serving dish, start by pouring 2 cups of the pudding mixture into the bottom and spread it evenly.
- Sprinkle ½ cup of the cookie crumbs and ¼ cup of the chopped cookies evenly over the pudding.
- Repeat the layers using 2 cups of pudding and ½ cup of cookie crumbs and ¼ cup of chopped cookies for each layer.
- Optional: Add gummy worms to each layer as desired, or only add some to the top.
- Ensure that the final layer on top is cookie crumbs.
- Refrigerate the dirt cake overnight before serving.
Notes:
- For the milk, 2% or whole milk is recommended.
- Use Jello Instant French Vanilla Pudding & Pie Filling for the best results.
- Double stuffed Oreos or any variety work well for this recipe.
- You can use either salted or unsalted butter.
- Any variety of Cool Whip works great, or you can make your own homemade whipped cream.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-5 days, or freeze it in an airtight container for up to 1 month (thaw slowly in the refrigerator).
